Sometimes reminiscing about childhood and school brings back a thousand memories; some of which are common amongst all of us, and can be a great topic to build a conversation on.
One of these common topics is Sports.
Sports has been an essential part of our growing up.
When we were children, our elders promoted us to play because it combined exercise with trill, excitement and sensations!
Sports and games are important for both the physical and mental health of the students, so schools offer a Games period as well.
Think about the times when you played dodgeball and kho kho with your friends in school; or when you learned swimming there.
From riding bikes, to playing games in our neighborhood streets; all of us, at one point, had a favourite sport that we wanted to excel in.
Most of us had friends in our neighborhood while growing up, and every evening we would gather together to have a game of cricket, or football, or badminton. This is something that is common in many Indian neighborhoods and remembering those days and visiting those streets always leaves us with a feeling of nostalgia.
Even when you meet a stranger, you can start a conversation on the topic and both of you would hit it off immediately because you'd tell each other different yet similar stories.
The concept of sports was restricted to us. We only believed that sports were outdoor games like cricket, football, and hockey. We often didn't put indoor games like snooker and bowling in our list of sports.
The fact is, that sports is a larger variety than what people are aware of. Commentators, referees, or coaches are a part of sports the community as well.
In this module, we've brought our A - Game, and we'll take proper care of it one game at a time so that you learn the vast topic of sports while keeping things interesting, and leave becoming an enthusiast!!
No matter how different a sport is, it brings us together by the feeling of sportsmanship. Sports develop and encourage the spirit of healthy competition.
Taking a defeat respectfully, and looking at the competitor in awe is what the essence of sports lie in. You can always go on and say 'it was a good game' and be happy about it.
The healthy spirit of rivalry and competition constantly leads to improvement in the performance and previous records are constantly excelled or surpassed.
