How we perceive food

PASSAGE

Did you go through the pre read? What did you think of it?

Just like Minnie we all have our favourite foods, what is your favourite food?

We eat food everyday. But, have you ever thought about the food that

we eat? Every family has their own special dishes and family recipes

What is a dish that is regularly made in your house?

Food actually plays a very important role in our lives. Just like

every family has special dishes, each state of India has unique and

delicious treats that are special to that location.

For instance, Mumbai's vada pav, Delhi's chole bhature, Kerala's

Parotta, and Kolkata's Mach Bhaat

We don't just use food to satisfy our own needs but to show an

emotional connection with others. From mother's special treats to our

grandmother's homemade stew, food is a way we connect and show love

for others.

Food has the ability to activate multiple senses - smell, sight, and

of course taste

What do you mean by that statement?

Food targets all our senses. For instance, if you sit down to eat a

big bowl of maggi

You can see the yellow colour of the maggi

You can smell the spicy aroma of the noodles

You can touch how hot it is

You can taste the distinctive taste of maggi

Now, imagine you have a big scoop of chocolate ice cream in front of

you. How will your senses activate to perceive the food?
