How to apply of EPL in Class?

PASSAGE

Points to keep in mind while teaching EPL:

The presentation of EPL is a very important and difficult task. A trainer should be very careful while presenting it. Children are very good observers and they love to follow their teacher, therefore the trainer should be very careful while presenting the activity.

Guidelines to keep in mind while presenting EPL in class:

  • The trainer should wear an apron while presenting EPL activities like handwashing and also ask students to do that.
  • When a child is admitted to a Montessori school, EPL should be taught in such a way that the child could understand it and work properly in all areas.  Therefore, the trainer must present the activity very clearly and help the child practice it.
  • The trainer should show the child how to do an activity without making any mistakes. In order to do so, she should not make any kind of mistake while presenting it.
  • Trainers should show students that they have to wash their hands after doing activities like cleaning.
  • Before presenting any activity, the trainer needs to practice a lot with the material herself so she is able to do it perfectly in front of the child.
  • The trainer should speak only if necessary while presenting the activity because it may divert the attention of the students.
  • She should demonstrate her presentation in a relaxed, calm and cheerful way to facilitate the students.
  • She should demonstrate her lesson in such a way that the lesson should seem brief and easy.
  • Before starting a presentation, introduce the materials to the children and tell them what they’re going to do.
  • After the completion of the activity, all things back to the right place.
  • The trainer should make all students aware of dangerous tools i.e. knives, matchboxes etc. and teach them how to handle those kinds of tools. Also, the parents should be present if the activity involves any sharp objects.
  • The trainer should observe the children very keenly.
  • The trainer should observe which activities need to be present again or repeated.
  • If the children make any mistakes while doing the activities, reintroduce them to those activities.
  • The teacher should not interrupt the child while doing the activity incorrectly but she can demonstrate the same activity later on.
  • Trainers should keep in mind that demonstrations need to repeat from time to time.
