1 out of 15 cm is covered by a dice.

Do you know that there is a shorter way to represent “5 out of 12 times Australia won the Cricket World Cup” numerically?

I can write it as 5/12.

So “12” represents the total parts Whole and “5” represents the part distributed. So the fraction becomes 5/12.

That is the reason why we We represent fractions as:

The top number is the Numerator, it is the number of parts you have.

The bottom number is the Denominator, it is the number of parts the whole is divided into.
